GESUBSIDIEERD TECHNISCH INSTITUUT ( = SUBSIDISED TECHNICAL INSTITUTE)

The GTI is currently spread across two locations out of necessity: the main buildings on Dieseghemlei and a second section on Ijzerenweglei. The buildings on Dieseghemlei date from the 1970s and appear to be structurally sound. We will retain some of these buildings and also construct a new building to house the school’s entire programme in one location.

The GTI is a school that helps young people find a job or pursue higher education, based on extensive STEM expertise and a strong desire to work with students in an innovative and problem-solving manner. Technical and practical subjects are offered in an integrated manner, which requires suitable classrooms. In addition, there is a need for classrooms for general subjects, a spacious canteen, offices, a spacious staff room and a covered playground. A new/renovated school building with modern energy-efficient technology is the best learning environment for these students and future employees.

JENAPLANSCHOOL LIEVEN GEVAERT

The existing school building is in very poor condition and cannot be renovated. We will therefore construct a completely new building on the football field next to the current school. The existing buildings can remain in use until the new building is completed. This area will then become the school’s new open space with a view of the green verge.

A Jenaplan school is not an average school. Around the building, there are all kinds of useful play and work areas for running, playing sports, sitting quietly, talking and working. Between the classrooms and group rooms, there are learning plazas furnished with functional corners. This applies to both preschoolers and primary school children, ensuring a warm and innovative transition to the first year of primary school. All groups start and end each part of the day in their group room. Children who prefer to work in silence are also welcome in this room.

MINI SPORTS HALL
The structure of the existing gym appears to be sound, but the exterior will be thoroughly renovated. In addition, new changing rooms and annexes will be provided.
