The current ZAVO campus on Groenstraat, located in the center of the municipality, is one of three campuses where ZAVO offers secondary education. The Groenstraat campus consists of a centrally located villa (built in 1888, expanded in 1906) and three school buildings. Part of the existing buildings is outdated and no longer meets current educational needs and standards regarding sustainability, comfort, and safety. The new construction project will replace the outdated B and C blocks, which will be demolished.

The project aims to create a new building focused on compactness, functionality, and low operating costs. Architecturally, the new project must fit within the village and park environment of Zaventem. As part of the DBFM program, we will also redevelop the outdoor area. The park and surrounding rows of trees provide an open and green setting. ZAVO strives to maximize the expansion of the existing green environment. Special attention is also given to reducing paved surfaces on the site.

The new infrastructure should restructure school life and sustainably integrate modern educational, care, and sports functions. The new buildings will include a sports hall, a dining hall, and a multipurpose room for various activities. Additionally, there will be a covered area where students can gather during bad weather. Study rooms, workspaces, and childcare areas for after-school activities will also be provided. After school hours, part of the buildings will be available for use by the local community.
